Fees and Affordability

Our Rates

As part of our commitment to providing accessible healing to all, we keep our rates approximately 20% lower than the recommended rate posted by the Psychologists Association of Alberta. This allows your benefits to cover more sessions on average than many other

therapy providers. We will also adjust our rates to meet our clients’ financial needs.

  • Registered Psychologists and Certified Counsellors: $150 – $180 for 50 minutes
  • Registered Provisional Psychologist: $90- $180 for 50 minutes
  • Intern Therapists: $0 – $90 for 50 minutes
  • Family and couples counselling: $225 – $270 for 80 minutes

In your initial consultation call, we will match you with the counsellor best suited to your needs.

Sliding Scale Fees and No-Cost Therapy

At EHC, we strive to make counselling affordable to everyone, no matter your financial situation. If cost is a barrier, we offer therapy on a sliding scale, which means the amount you pay aligns with your annual income and number of dependents. We will help calculate this during your initial consultation.

We are dedicated to working with you to find the most accessible option for healing, whether that’s a student therapist, a group program, our free online grief course, or any combination of these.

Student Therapists

As a teaching institution, the Edmonton Healing Centre is always training the next generation of therapists. Choosing a student therapist gives you access to affordable care with the full support of senior therapist supervisors, and fresh ideas grounded in the latest therapeutic approaches.

Our students are deeply committed to your healing, and are immersed in the latest tools and modalities. Students are often available to see you right away, so you can start your healing journey without the wait.

Why choose a student therapist?

  • affordable
  • supervised
  • fresh perspectives
  • up-to-date training
  • shorter wait times,
  • motivated care

Group Counselling Rates

f cost is a barrier, we offer our groups on a sliding scale, aligning what you can pay with your financial means.

  • Grief group program: $240 per level (each level included 5-8 sessions)
    • A subsidized rate of $140 is available if cost is a barrier
  • Pet loss drop-in support group: $15 per session
  • Custom workshops and presentations: Varies, but typically $360 for a two-hour session

Please note that direct insurance billing is not available for group counselling.

Direct billing and Coverage

Your therapy session may be covered in full or in part by your benefits plan or health insurance.

We work with most major benefits providers. If you don’t see your provider on this list, you may be able to submit your receipt to them after your session for full or partial reimbursement. We are also an authorized WCB provider. Check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.
