M.C., Registered Provisional Psychologist
Pronouns- she/her
Kayla is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a passion for supporting individuals through grief and loss, the impacts of sexualized violence and trauma, and building self-compassion and self-worth.
She began working in the field of sexual violence in 2013, supporting several non-profit organizations in the city after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. This meaningful work inspired her to pursue further education, and she completed her Master of Counselling at City University in 2023.
In her practice, Kayla prioritizes the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for healing. She often takes a narrative approach—exploring the stories clients carry, where they originated (from culture, society, or others), and how they may be impacting life today. She also works somatically, recognizing that our bodies and nervous systems often hold their own stories. Kayla aims to create space to listen to and understand these experiences. Additionally, she integrates mindfulness-based tools to support nervous system regulation and emotional well-being.
Kayla specializes in working with adults experiencing:
· Grief and loss
· Impacts of sexual violence
· Loss of relationships
· Anxiety and depression
· Identity development and affirmation for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals
Outside of her practice, Kayla enjoys spending time with her partner and their cats, playing card games, badminton, going to the theatre, and practicing yoga.
